Cathy Collins Art
As an art history student, I found that an excellent way to learn about an artist's work was to imitate the artist's drawings and studies. Masters of the Renaissance and Baroque periods were my passion, and I filled my sketchbooks with drawings inspired by their work. After graduating, I entered the library science program at Simmons College, and drawing was left behind. I then began my career as a college librarian and worked at Harvard University for many years. After a long break to raise my two daughters, I began work in an elementary school library. This meant constant exposure to inspiring picture books illustrated in a large variety of styles. The urge to create struck again! With encouragement from my mother and brother, who both came to painting later in life, I finally decided to pick up a paintbrush. I have since taken classes in several mediums with several excellent teachers in the Concord area, where I have lived for over 30 years.
